The Gonzaga Bulldogs entered the 2005-2006 season boasting a top 10 preseason ranking and one of college basketball's best players. Coming off a stellar sophomore season, Morrison set the basketball world on fire. He led the nation in scoring at 28.1 ppg while leading the Zags to a 27-3 regular season record.
Gonzaga earned the #3 seed in the Oakland Region of the NCAA Tournament. The WCC champions first took down a pesky Xavier team, 79-75, and then college basketball blue blood, Indiana, 90-80, to reach the Sweet 16.
A gut wrenching loss to #2 seed UCLA couldn't diminish what many consider to be one of college basketball's greatest individual seasons. Morrison was named Naismith National Player of the Year and a consensus First Team All-American.
